Residential Design

This project consisted of a complete refurbishment of a 224 sqm flat, located in East London, in a newly converted warehouse apartment block, with views overlooking the River Thames. One of the main objectives was to maximize the use of the main reception space, prioritizing the incorporation of a prominent grand piano as a feature of the room. The flat was styled to be minimalistic, inspired by the Japandi look throughout.

Structurally, the layout was reconfigured, relocating the study to the second bedroom (explained further bellow), opening up space for the dining area. It was also altered to accommodate for a personal gym, requiring the relocation of basic utilities.

In this same project, the design of the newly converted bedroom to office, included a prominent bespoke feature shelving unit. This again was inspired by the Japandi style, with its asymmetrical shelving and its combination of dark and light woods. The brief required a duality to the space, needing the office to also function as a guest room. This was achieved by incorporating a space for a day bed into the bespoke piece, used as a sofa for the more informal work that the client requested, that is easily adaptable to function as a standard twin bed.

A project in which I assisted a client with the design and furnishing of their new apartment. The primary design challenge was working with the irregular angles of the space to create zones within the open floor plan. I assisted in the sourcing of furniture, artwork and fixtures and provided guidance for the styling, colors and textures, and ideal proportions to best suit the size and desired aesthetic of their new space.

This kitchen design proposal is for a project I worked on with a couple for their new apartment in Luxembourg. The existing kitchen was very small, not utilizing nearly enough of the available space in the open floor plan. Together we designed a new kitchen and layout that more effectively uses the space. We elongated the kitchen footprint and added a new island to create an easier flow of movement. The additional storage and counter space makes for an elevated kitchen experience, which was designed in a modern aesthetic, with minimalistic cabinetry, paired with materials rich with dynastic warm textures.

A project to fully furnish and style a 2 bedroom, 85 sq m apartment in central Luxembourg. The aim of the brief is to create an aesthetic and comfortable environment that will attract renters. This prioritizes creating a memorable environment that is durable, and at an affordable price point. One way in which this was achieved was by producing unique graphic art prints for the client, which gives the apartment character and a sense of individuality.

A renovation of a two level, 130 sqm apartment in Luxembourg. The primary goal was to modernize the interior, and to open up the primary reception area, to create an open plan living space that would maximize the potential of the property’s long narrow layout. This project included the undertaking of a full kitchen remodel, three bathroom renovations, as well as designs for bespoke cabinetry and closets. The clients were looking for a clean modern look that retained a sense of warmth.

A landscaping project in Girona, dedicated to updating the experience of the entry point of the property and resolving a drainage problem damaging the foundation of the house. The area was repaved, with a new concealed drainage and sleek gutter system, pushing the water away from the house. A new rock wall and outdoor shower were also incorporated to create a little outdoor oasis to rinse off after returning from a trip to the nearby beach.

This is an ongoing landscaping project that I designed for a family in Luxembourg, with the primary objective to transform the backyard into a relaxing and social environment for the family to enjoy together. They needed it to provide multiple functions; as an outdoor dining space, a pool area, an outdoor living space and to retain some open space for the yard. To create a seamless journey through these spaces, that flowed with the natural typography, I designed the journey in steps, forming zones on different levels that gradually brought you to the last program of the journey at the end of the yard.

This kitchen proposal focuses on opening up the space by incorporating the dining room, taking better advantage of the natural light, and incorporating a formal and informal dining space into the kitchen experience. The kitchen is designed in a contemporary style, focusing on creating an uncluttered look, with plenty of storage and using materiality to give the space depth and character.

This bathroom renovation project was for a couple in Florida, who I worked with to design a proposal for a new bright and elegant master bathroom. The existing bathroom was worn and dated in style, with dark woods and awkward corners. The clients were not content with the small shower, dwarfed by the dominant bathtub that was rarely used. The brief aimed to brighten the small room and design a layout that allowed for a luxurious large walk in shower.

A landscaping project I designed for a couple in Virginia, who I worked with to create a new patio space to elevate the outdoor experience of their new home. The main feature of this space is the large round fire pit area, with built in seating to comfortably host social gatherings. The hardscape design consists of organic curves so the transition between the grass and paving feels natural and free flowing, with the softscape design is complimenting this gradual transition.

A full renovation of a 120 sqm, two story, three bedroom apartment in Luxembourg. The aim of the brief was to create an elevated space, modernizing the dark and dated interior to be a sophisticated and inviting environment. The space was styled in a Japandi aesthetic, embracing organic forms, mixed neutral tones and natural materials to create a rich calming interior for the couple to come home to.

A proposal for an ongoing landscaping project I designed for a family in Luxembourg. The primary objective was to incorporate a new patio, to provide a social area with a dining and seating area for the family to comfortably engage with each other outside. It was important that the layout respected and retained the existing rose bush and walnut tree, while also incorporating more biodiversity, adding some new color and texture into the yard experience.

This project is a full renovation of a two bedroom apartment in Luxembourg. The space is centered around an open plan living concept, making the kitchen design a key factor of the transformation. The new proposal introduces a sleek new look, inspired by a modern Scandinavian style, embracing bright and clean elements, paired with calming natural tones and textures. The layout is reconfigured to create a more spacious and open kitchen experience, by reclaiming the laundry room and incorporating it directly into the design. The design style is echoed throughout the apartment, aiming to achieve a relaxing, bright and sophisticated place for the client to call home.

A project for a 104 sq m flat located in East London, focused on space planning and maximizing the use of the clients existing furniture. These pieces were paired with design details and new material palettes to elevate the quality of the space and make the existing furniture, such as their distinctive green velvet sofa, feel fully intentional and as though it were made for these spaces.

Commercial Design

A study of modular shopfronts, exploring different ways a business can seamlessly and effectively adapt the customer experience to be functional in a world affected by a pandemic, as we have experienced throughout the year in 2020. A main objective of the brief is to explore ways to give a shopfront distinctive character to draw attention and enables it to be easily transitional to open up to its exterior space. This is explored in a variety of scales, from a small mom and pop shop to more expansive retail or F&B units.

One way this was approached was in stepping away from common monochromatic aluminum commercial framing systems and instead embracing color and mixing textures to catch the eye of passersby. The creative uses of sash and retractable windows was also explored as an excellent way to maximize covers, opening up the interior to the outdoors and creating the opportunity to function as a ‘take away’ space. This would maintain customer interaction in a controlled outdoor environment for when the use of interior space is restricted.

This project was an exploration into the feasibility of expanding a practicing dentist’s existing dental office. His aim was to determine if two additional dentists could be comfortably accommodated within the existing site, and how this could be achieved. The proposed layouts explored more than the physical restraints, but also introduced ways the configuration could assist with the efficiency and flow of movement in the office to best suit the needs of these doctors. Spaces such as the reception, waiting room, break room, sanitization station, etc. are all taken into consideration to ensure that the practice could function seamlessly at this new capacity.

Graphic Design

I have assisted several companies in discovering their look, creating a logo for their brand, establishing a design guide and often producing promotional graphics, as well. Clients have included a boutique jewelry store in London, a non-profit bee research organization in Arizona, and holistic therapist in Luxembourg.

I have produced custom digital portraits and illustrations, often taking inspiration from existing photographs and transforming them into a more abstract and artist rendition. This is a great way to incorporate affordable custom art into your space that is meaningful and catered specifically for your aesthetic and color schemes. The work has also often been commissioned for personalized gifts for others.
